Introduction
The Best Galician Traditional Gaita (Galician Bagpipe) Music by the Treixadura Band
Get to know the sound of the traditional Gaita (Galician bagpipe) at the hand of the artists of the bagpipe band from Redondela founded in 1990 called Treixadura. The group's trajectory began in July 1990 with the pipers Antón and Xan López, Xaquín Xesteira and Xabier Martínez as original members. The following year they were joined by Ramón Vázquez, O Chilro, and they began to develop their own style, Galician traditional cantigas (medieval monophonic songs, typical of the Galician-Portuguese lyric) along with traditional instruments such as the gaita, accordion and bombos (big drums).
Come to Moaña, Galicia, Spain and Enjoy a Celtic Music Festival Live Online
The Interceltic Festival of Morrazo is a folk music festival held in the fishing village of Moaña, located in the province of Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain and part of the O Morrazo Peninsula. This festival more than 20 years old, was born thanks to the Gaitas School of Moaña "Semente Nova" who was in charge of organizing the first edition. It was celebrated under the name of I Festival Nocturno Celta do Morrazo (I Celtic Night Festival of Morrazo) on the 15th of August, 1985. The main objective of the Interceltic Festival of Morrazo is to promote traditional Spanish folklore and the new trends in this musical genre, internationally and nationally. In 2003 it was declared of cultural interest by the European Union and the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Spain. Apart from the local Galician folk music bands other artists from all over the world participate at this music festival from Scotland, Northumbria, Ireland, Canada and Brittany.
We might even get a chance to speak with the artists after their shows so don’t miss the opportunity! As well we might even squeeze some time to see the artisan stalls at this festival.
The Concello de Moaña is in charge of organizing this festival that is celebrated every year at the end of July or beginning of August, this year is the 38th edition and takes place on the 29th, 30th, and 31st of July.
