A village that is very close to our hearts, since it is where AngieĀ“s parents are from and the first place we lived in Galicia. We spoke with the mayor Horacio Gil ExpĆ³sito and he is happy for us to show you LIVE this gastronomic & cultural festival of International tourist interest.
63rd Edition of the Lamprey Festival
Every year in the town council of Arbo (Concello de Arbo), they celebrate the Festa da Lamprea and Condado wines. The first Festa da Lamprea took place on April 16, 1961. Now, this year 2023 it will be the 63rd edition of the Lamprey Festival, and it has been declared a festival of International Touristic Interest... LXIII FESTA DA LAMPREA - April 28, 29 and 30, 2023
Michelin-starred Chefs come here to buy Lamprey when in season!
Did you know that from this village the Romans in the 2nd Century AD caught and brought the Lamprey eel from the MiƱo River all the back to Rome live?! It was a delicacy (and still is!) for the Romans. Now Michelin-starred chefs come here to buy Lamprey when in season and offer it on their menu in important cities like Madrid and San Sebastian.We will hear some of the local Galician Bagpipe Music with the traditional dancing of the Folkloric Group A.C. A Barca do Loimil. Then we will explore the Arbomostra tent with stands for the local Condado and AlbariƱo wines of the D.O. Rias Baixas, artisan products, and of course, here we will see the different traditional dishes prepared from the Lamprey.
