Introduction

Wines, Walks & Seaside Flavors: A Culinary Camino Across Galicia

This unique Camino de Santiago trip combines iconic pilgrimage trails with the stunning coastal beauty of Galicia´s Rías Baixas. Starting in Santiago de Compostela, head to Villafranca del Bierzo, stopping to explore the ancient Roman-walled city of Lugo. Along the way, stay in historic paradors and charming manors, enjoying the comfort of self-guided walks accompanied by professional drivers.

You can also read one of our Camino de Santiago travel experiences in Galicia.

Walking through Galicia´s countryside, you´ll trace some of the most picturesque sections of the French and Portuguese Camino routes. Highlights include visits to local Bierzo wineries known for their Mencía wines, and stays in traditional rural accommodations that showcase the authentic charm of the region. Each day is carefully designed for balance: scenic walks, cultural immersion, and the flexibility to rest or explore at your own pace.

Savor Galician Food, Albariño Wines, and Coastal Treasures

Galicia is famous for its world-class gastronomy, and this journey offers countless opportunities to indulge. After reaching Santiago, the route continues along the Rías Baixas coastline with a food and wine expert. This region is the birthplace of Albariño, the bright and citrusy white wine that pairs perfectly with the fresh local seafood. Visit wineries with exclusive tastings, learning about winemaking traditions while sampling the best local wines.

For travellers interested in exploring more of the region´s culinary culture, this experience pairs naturally with our collection of Galicia food and wine tours, which highlight local wines, markets, and traditional gastronomy across the region.

Seafood lovers will be in paradise: from fresh razor clams and mussels to the iconic pulpo a la gallega. Dining experiences include stops at traditional taverns, seaside restaurants, and market-fresh feasts. Beyond the plate, the journey includes light coastal walks to lighthouses and hilltop ruins, blending nature, history, and cuisine at every step.

Vigo: The Vibrant Coastal Heart of Galicia

The journey concludes in Vigo, Europe´s largest fishing port and a city where maritime tradition meets contemporary energy. Explore lively neighbourhoods, browse local markets, and enjoy traditional and innovative restaurants serving fresh seafood and creative Galician cuisine.

Travellers interested in comparing different Camino experiences may also enjoy our Camino de Santiago Ribeiro Way, which focuses on inland landscapes and historic wine regions, or the Slow Camino Coastal Portuguese Way, ideal for those who prefer Atlantic scenery and a more leisurely coastal pace.

This experience is ideal for travellers seeking luxury Camino de Santiago tours, Galician wine and culinary vacations, or Spanish coastal walking adventures that combine culture, cuisine, and scenery in one unforgettable journey.

Such a great experience!
My partner and I and another couple used Eat & Walkabout for 10 fabulous days in Galicia and Portugal. Hands down one of the best travel experiences we´ve ever had. So many great hikes, meals, walks, tours and experiences you could ask for. I would recommend them 100% and will definitely be booking them again.
