The fishermen work together under then Cofradía de Pescadores San Xose de Cangas to auction off their catch just about every day. Right off the small colourful fishing boats into the Lonxa (Auction House) store on ice to keep it as fresh as possible until the afternoon auction. We will show the auction of the Centollo (Spider Crab) a delicacy in this area, and during the end of fall and winter months it is the best time of year, you will see how big they get! The auction is very up-to-date and modern with controllers to make your bid, and the facilities are impeccably clean the way they should be to assure the best and freshest quality. The Galician government is very strict when it comes to regulations under the Pesca de Rias brand thinking in sustainability, etc...

Learn about the different types of Seafood and Fish caught locally on the Beautiful Bay of Vigo

Before or after the auction we will take a peek at the different types of fish and seafood caught on the bay of Vigo. Just to name a few types, like the Navajas de las Islas Cies (The Razor Clams from the Cies Islands), Percebes (Goose-neck barnacles), Pulpo (Octopus), Bogavante (Lobster), Necoras (velvet crabs), Dorada (Sea-Bream), Lubina (Sea-Bass), etc...

Admire the small fishing boat and traps lined along the port of Cangas do Morrazo

On the port of Cangas do Morrazo we will show you all the quaint fishing boats for in-bay fishing handed down from generation to generation. As well see all the nets and traps used to catch sustainable all the seafood and fish that are in these waters.

A great time of year to visit the auction and port since seafood during the Christmas Holidays is very important and on everyone's table during the big meals, I mean big meals in the land of Galicia! A Land of abundant, fresh seafood!

As usual with Sean´s tours, the pace was relaxed and packed with interesting information. Tiernan also provided additional details, which he had researched. We particularly enjoyed seeing the private, internal workings of the fish & seafood auction. Their highly respectful manner garners them access to places and events that others may not be privileged to see. Even the ladies repairing the nets on the dock tolerated our intrusion. A great tour.

Another great tour with Sean and Tiernan, their knowledge of the area, customs is fantastic. Looking forward to more of his tours. If you haven´t seen his Vigo Christmas lights tour, you need to book it, it is stunning!

A nice and relaxing tour of the local seafood auction house and the area of Cangas. Sean and his son, Tiernan, were very informative of what they showed in regards to the buying and selling of seafood; including the spider crabs. The whole area was very picturesque!

Im always entertained with Sean & Tiernan´s Tours. Always visually beautiful, always with tons of interesting, useful information. They are both very knowledgeable and I find it fascinating to see Galicia through their eyes (specially because Sean wasnt born there).
