The Young wine Region of Madeirense DOP: the future of wines from Madeira 

Not only fortified wines are made on Madeira Island, in fact for generations families have been making table wines for family consumption, as they play an important role on the table of Madeiran cuisine. Just as of 2008, the wine region of Madeirense DOP started commercializing small-batch table wines of Madeira.  A wide range of grape varieties are permitted in the region, the most popular being the white grape Verdelho, making an excellent 100% mono-varietal wine. We will taste these young wines at Quinta do Barbusano, Antonio the owner has worked hard to create the best wines in Madeira in a very special setting of the Sao Vicente Valley.

The best way to discover the nature of the island is in a Land Rover along off-road trails to see the lungs of this sub-tropical paradise.  Stop at amazing lookout vantage points to admire the views along the way. A must when you come to Madeira is to take a Jeep ride with a local expert who knows the back roads!

DAY 1:
FUNCHAL - ESTREITO CÂMARA DE LOBOS - ROSARIO - SÃO VICENTE - SEIXAL - CÂMARA DE LOBOS  - FUNCHAL

• 09:00 AM: Pick up from your hotel in Funchal or the cruise ship port by our local Jeep 4X4 guide.
• Starting off with a Jeep 4x4 tour in nature to see the north coast making our way up through the Estreito Câmara de Lobos passing through Rosario to the Sao Vicente wine country.
• 12:30 PM: Stop for a vineyard walk and wine tasting of the 6 wines at Quinta do Barbusano with views of the vineyard valley.
• Lunch at the winery with some amazing views and enjoy the Espetada beef skewers, potatoes, etc. traditional cuisine of Madeira. 
• The next stop will be in Seixal, we will go down to Seixal´s black volcanic sand beach and see how the vines are grown on the terraces of the cliffs hanging over the sea, a unique wine country destination! You will even have a chance to dip your toes in the water and take a walk along the black sand beach.
• Then returning to the southern coast we will stop in Camara de Lobos for a Madeira wine tasting at Henriques & Henriques.
• Return to Funchal.
• 05:00 PM: Drop off back at your hotel or cruise ship in Funchal and final goodbye from our jeep guide.
