Ribadavia is widely known for its well-preserved monuments such as the fortified castle of Ribadavia, Santiago's church of the 12th century, amongst other important historic landmarks.  On this tour, you will immerse into the local culture and natural surroundings, visiting hundred-year-old villas with Baroque-Romanesque styled beautiful churches, passing through breathtaking scenery with oak trees, chestnut trees, and pines worth slowing down just to admire!

Follow the food, wine, and natural vineyard trails of O Ribeiro, walking through tiny vineyard plots owned by "colleiteiros" (small local growers and winemakers) growing local grape varieties making delicious signature small-batch wines, a must-see highlight when visiting this wine region.

The Ribeiro wine region has been cultivated for over a thousand-years with Torrontés, Loureira, Godello, Albariño and Treixadura grapes, this last variety stands out as the favourite of Ribeiro. The Ribeiro D.O. (Designation of Origin or Appellation of Originis the oldest wine-producing area in Galicia.

On The Ribeiro Wine Tour, you will enjoy selected winery visits and wine tastings savouring the whites and reds that The Ribeiro Wine Region has to offer.

Day by day itinerary

DAY 1:

RIBADAVIA - O RIBEIRO WINE COUNTRY - RIBADAVIA

  • Meet our food, wine, and walking expert guide in the morning at the tourist office in Ribadavia.
  • The day starts with a slow-paced walk along the Camino del Vino wine trails of O Ribeiro Wine Country. (NOTE: The duration of walking can be from 5 to 10km ./ 3.12 to 6.21mi. approx. with some stops along the way for photos, winery visits, etc.. we can adapt the amount of walk during the day depending on how much you would like to walk.)
  • Begining the walking portion of our wine tour from San Clodio and finishing our route back in Ribadavia.
  • Along our nature walk, you will explore the historic villages and visit a couple of small wine-producing Adegas in the D.O. Ribeiro.
  • We will have lunch in a local restaurant trying some of the tasty local traditional dishes.
  • Returning back to Ribadavia, the capital of O Ribeiro wine country, where they have an annual festival "Festa da Istoria".
  • After our meal, we will visit the historical-medieval town of Ribadavia, the capital of O Ribeiro wine country, where they have an annual festival "Festa da Istoria".
  • We walk through the well-preserved historical quarter, learning about the Jewish influence of this wine town, and then we will have the opportunity to taste toasted wines
  • Ending The Ribeiro Wine Tour in the old town of Ribadavia.

  • If the weather is too bad to operate the tour we will suggest another day to do the tour, or refund what has been paid.
